Title: Colorfully Late
Fandom: original
Character: original
Length: 123
Rating: G
An unkempt girl stood ahead of them, her loose hair and simple frock splattered with paints in brilliant shades of pink and yellow, green and blue. Lilac thought the hair was dingy brown and the frock white, beneath the kaleidoscope of color, but who could tell?
The girl turned to grin on them. She was wearing spectacles. The glass was so splattered with paint that she surely could not see out. No bit of her eyes were visible beneath it. Except that she turned her face toward them with confidence.
"I see you came too late for the festival."
William swallowed. Carolus stood very still. Lilac drew a deep breath.
"Yes," she said. "Yes, we did."
The girl shrugged. "Watch for the colors."
