"Yay, a puppy," said Razmi, with about as much enthusiasm as she said anything. She gave the little round bundle of fluff a tired frown as she held it slightly further away from her face to avoid another licking. The pup began to wriggle and let out a series of shrill barks.

"I know how much you like animals, so I thought I'd give you first dibs, after my kids picked out one," Phoebe gestured to the pram that now contained a single, excitedly panting puppy, "The last one's probably going to Ajna."

Razmi sighed, "What makes you think I like animals? My only animal is one whose soul I stuffed in a lantern and then turned its hide into a shawl."

"Well... it was a berserk possessed tiger. And Ajna says she always got the impression you secretly felt bad about it," Phoebe shrugged, "After all, you went to all those lengths to un-possess it."

"Because it would have broken free again and eaten me, duh," Razmi glowered at her.

"Well, Ajna said you need a friend and you don't like humans."

The shaman sighed, "They're Lanshi's, right?"

Phoebe nodded.

"I guess I owe the big mutt a favour."

"I don't think they sell those, Estelle," Anelace sighed, "But I'm still gonna get you a new pair of Stregas. You can have any design you choose. Even if its some overpriced limited run."

"This is the best birthday ever! I still believe I'm at THE original Strega store! Look, there's the mascot!"

"Oh my goodness, that's so cute!" it was Anelace's turn to squeal at the anthropomorphic trainer with big round eyes.

Massive gears began to turn again and the clamor of bells announced the return to life of a sentinel that had kept watch over the city for over 150 years. Silhouetted against the great clock tower, three figures emerged from a rift of crimson light that looked like a wound in the fabric of the night sky.

Half an hour, they were all turfed out of the Houses of Parliament by a team of very confused security guards.

"I hate clock tower mazes," complained Yuuki, "So much jumping from gear to gear. One day I'm gonna fall in."

"You'd think a place as big as London would have its own team, anyway," Shio sighed.

"They're all busy in a major Eclipse over the Thames. Again," explained Asuka, "Or one of the... what... four that opened up in abandoned Tube tunnels?"

"I guess other capitals have just as many issues as our own," said Shio.

"Our organisation really needs to expand. We can't fly people from Tokyo to London on short notice just because a clock stopped working," she sighed, "We don't have the budget to keep doing this. But then, we don't have the budget to expand, either. Damn recession."
