"I knew that these places rarely follow the usual laws of time and space," mused Miriam, "But I didn't expect a whole railway line to fit in this castle."
"We need to keep moving," warned Zangetsu, "Nothing here is friendly, even if it looks like an everyday sight such as a train."
Miriam nodded, one hand on the whip she kept at her belt. Arcane lightning crackled through its lengths. Zangetsu's hand went to his katana. He had been constantly staring out at the moon that his signature blade was named after, an increasingly worried look on his face. The moon didn't look normal. It was much larger and redder than it was supposed to be at this time of year. In fact, none of the space inside this castle had any business existing or even fitting inside the building's confines. Sometimes Miriam swore she looked out of the window and saw a different moon, or a different time of day, or different sky altogether.
Footfalls caught her attention. She heard the ring of steel as Zangetsu drew his blade first, already springing forwards to cut down the first black-clad assassin to silently enter the carriage. At the same time as she began casting a spell from one of her many bound Shards, the train's engine whistled and began to chug as they accelerated. They'd quickly left the station far behind, unsure as to their destination, other than that there was no going back until they got there, hopefully alive.
