I hovered by the window, wishing I could escape. Thank heaven that Jehan had acted firmly and had put himself in charge until Belsante could be summoned back, but the thunderous rainstorm would muddy the roads and put off even the hour when she could receive the news.
I could plead that I had to research the problem in the library, if anyone would let me speak.
With a sigh, I looked out the window. A rainbow arched from the clouds to the ground, glowing with color. Moments later, a company appeared, riding along the road.
I blinked. And blinked again. It took me minutes before I could feel certain it was indeed Belstante. I forced my breath in and out, but someone still screamed of her arrival before I could speak, much to my relief.
