The clouds had barely thinned, and were still a thick cobalt blue. But a rainbow arched down from them to the hills, and the fields just before us, dotted with trees, were bright green in the new sunlight.
"Don't look too closely," warned the troll-wife. "The leprechauns will take it for trying to find out where their pot of gold is." She rolled her eyes. "And then there will be no end of trouble, and never admitting that that trouble might just have something to do with what they did."
"Does any fairy ever admit to having caused trouble?" said Halley.
The troll-wife looked thoughtful.
