A radiant dawn, more glorious with pink and yellow and blue than the most luxuriant flower garden, across clouds light and wispy, and all of it reflected below, with nothing but a band of darkness between where the greenery grew. The light was so colorful that even the weathered wood of the deck showed many shades, and while Jon could see the boats had been painted, he could not be sure of the color.
"Your vehicle awaits," he said to Natalya, with a bow.
She smiled, ironically, and let him hand her into the boat.
Amazingly enough, the clouds kept their promise, and his steady rowing in fair weather brought them across the lake, with no trouble from waves.
