Rating: G/Gen
Characters: Feena & Reah
Words: 100

Summary: Feena remembers the song she used to sing with her sister.
Picture:

Feena stared along the tall, sheer, windswept cliffs at the stormy sea and sky. The boundless blue, the gulls spreading their broad white wings, the powerful crashing waves, all stirred vague memories within her.
She lifted her head and began to hum a tune, simple but clear and melodic. She remembered the tune from somewhere very important. There'd been another voice singing a duet with her, or sometimes accompanying her on a harmonica. The fact that she could barely remember it filled her with an indescribable sorrow, like the cries of the gulls as they flew away one by one.

Summary: Adol and Dogi reminisce and discuss their situation from the top of the El Dore mountain.
Picture:

From the peak of Mt. El Dore, Adol could see the whole of Balduq stretched out below him. This far above the bustle, the Imperial prison city didn't seem all that big or imposing. If he wasn't also able to see the lattice of purple, red and blue crackling energy, an enormous arcane barrier surrounding Balduq's outer borders, he would have a real feeling of freedom. With his new-found Monstrum powers, he could easily soar across the landscape, run up mountains, dart unseen into the shadows. The same powers bound him to this city, however, and the duty he had within it.
"Doesn't 'El Dore' remind you of the El Doran armour you found? Think they're related?"
Adol shrugged, "It's supposed to be a holy site. Maybe cursed as well. There's got to be a lot of magic flowing through it. I bet the magic is in the ore veins, and there'll be another disastrous mining expedition. There's always one."
"I can see the sparkle coming back to your eye," Dogi grinned, wrapping a large arm around his slender but lithe companion's shoulder, "Glad to see this confinement isn't driving you too loopy."
"I don't like not being allowed out but I don't think it will last forever. I'm already allowed to mess around in the countryside," said the adventurer, "Besides, this city is huge. There's secrets around every corner and enough danger to last me a lifetime. Not to mention that prison..."
"Think we'll ever find out what exactly is going on in there?"
"I think we might have to, if we're going to break the curse," said Adol. Then he smiled, his secret, mischievous smile reserved for Dogi, and returned his embrace, "Anyway, its hard to be sad now that you're by my side again. You, and all our new friends."
"The Dandelion is probably my new favourite inn," agreed Dogi, "And that barkeeper is cute."
"If I find out you're cheating on me with Chante, I have three new ways to fling you off this cliff."
"Don't worry, you can join in," Dogi grinned, then kissed him.

Characters: Duren/Frieda
Words: 100

Summary: Duren watches Frieda purge the poisonous vents.
Picture:

Blasted, almost skeletal trees protruded from the marsh mists. Adol flinched as another jet of poisonous fog erupted from a vent. The rickety platform creaked under his boot and he felt the rotten plank give way slightly. Frieda pushed him carefully aside, already chanting in a language from the ancient Eldeen civilisation. Lines of ice-blue energy streamed up her arms and shaped itself in a pentagram above the poisonous geyser. With a creak and a snap, the ice sheet covered the marsh, leaving behind purple crystals with eldritch beauty of their own.
Much like her, Duren observed, his face burning.
