Shining Force 3 - The Dragon Priest
Feb. 17th, 2021 12:32 pmTitle: The Dragon Priest
Noon placed the dragon skull on his head, brandishing the summoning staff before him towards the altar. His robes of rainbow silk flowed to the marble floor of the ancient catacombs, the ritual paint running down him in rivulets, daubed head to foot in every colour.
Electric colour flowed down his hands in waves, all the colours of light and raw magic that poured through the ether from the dragon Tiamat, who he had once summoned and his soul was now bound to. He heard its roar crashing against reality like a tidal wave. Power coursed through his hands, burning like fire.
He let out a roar in a voice that wasn't his own. He was Tiamat's priest now. He'd taken the role from the last chosen servant unknowingly, aware only that he desperately needed the power to save the continent, that he was a powerful enough wizard to perform such a summoning ritual safely.
He had assumed that, with the trial of combat over with, he could safely leave the sealed chamber, that it would be the end of it.
He hadn't quite understood Tiamat's nature or that of the ritual.
A golden dragon's wings beat, growing swiftly closer.
