"I thought we were over this," the little dog glared up at the plesiosaur pointedly.

"You don't understand," he stammered, "Its back. The thing that made me too scared to go back into the ocean. If you'd seen it, you wouldn't want to go either."

"Its rather a moot point, seeing as we can't go into the ocean without you to ride on," the dog rolled his watery brown eyes, lifting huge shaggy eyebrows.

"He is right, though, you know," rumbled the Leviathan. The legendary draconic beast had curled up in the sun that gleamed off her autumn-coloured scales. The other animals had assumed her to be asleep and were unwilling to wake a dragon-God of the ocean in case it made them grumpy, "There is a reason that this area is a desert, yet a sea creature was trapped in the middle of it. Camellia wasn't always a desert, you see. Then They came. They are the reason I sunk my palace and hid, too."

"Are we talking about the giant hand things that come out of the ocean sometimes?" asked the dog, "I thought I'd dreamed them."

"If anything, this may all be the dream of the elder deities living down there," the Leviathan warned them, "Things of spirit, not of this realm of existence. They had built the Colossi as their senses, it's said - things of the raw ideas of sense, giants made to look like eyes, noses, mouths, ears and hands."

"So they're alive? Where do they go?" the dog sniffed and whined. The things had always traveled straight upwards before disappearing somewhere beyond the stars.

"To sense the world for their masters, I assume. Anyway, its important that we steer clear of them at all costs. People have blundered into them and lost their very souls."

The dog shivered, "But if we stay away, we'll be okay, right?"

"Most probably. They do not seem interested in us. Although, the direction that the boy's quest is taking him... I have seen visions of him travelling far into the blackest of depths, where the world changes into something else entirely that had been forgotten. He may yet awaken one of those things. If so... it may change the entire face of this world. We have to be prepared for that."

"Are we gonna have to stop him?" asked the dog, "But he's my master and he's done so many good things so far..."

"Do not worry, I also see only goodness in the boy's heart. It's up to us to guide him in his quest. It'll take courage."

The dinosaur nodded and waddled towards the ocean.
