Title:The Dark Storm
Ravens flew from their roosts on the balconies as the entire tenement block sank into the rising tide of dark matter. More tentacles rose from the otherworldly, chaotic mire, tall and broad enough to grab and pull sections off the wall. She prayed this area really was abandoned long ago, evacuated as it was supposed to have been and not squatted in by dissidents who refused to leave or even by those who had been deemed too much of a risk to allow out. Pulling back her chain, she launched it out at the nearest thrashing alien pseudopod, calling her Legion at the last moment. The chain wrapped around the first tentacle and the summoned beast's axe sliced the second enemy in half, spraying the Legion with thick gouts of half-crystallised dark matter. Great, she thought, sighing, I'm the one who's gonna have to clean all that out of its armour while it fusses and thrashes around like a fussy cat being groomed. And that was the best case scenario, if they ever even emerge from this nightmare...
